Djibril Cissé grew up in a large but warm family. He is the last born in a seven-person family with three brothers and two sisters.

His brothers include Seni Cissé, Hamed Cissé, Fode Cissé and Aboubacar Cissé, and his two sisters are N’ma Cissé and Damaye Cissé.

Djibril Cissé’s ethnicity is black, and has Ivorian descent. The former French striker’s parents were of Ivorian-Guinean descent and migrated to France in 1974.

His father was called Mangue Cissé. He was a professional Ivorian footballer and team captain. Sadly, he passed on in September 2009 due to an illness.

The former Liverpool star credits part of his football success to his father, who introduced him to playing the game at an early age.

Djibril’s mother is Karidiata Cissé. Her occupation is a full-time homemaker, and she takes care of her family.

Djibril Cissé’s early childhood and football career  

Having been brought up by a football-loving father who played for his country’s team, Djibril started kicking the ball as soon as he learned to walk.

At the early age of eight, in 1989, Djibril started playing for AC Arles, where he lasted for seven years.

His professional career took a new leap when he joined Auxerre in 1998 and created a name for himself after scoring 90 goals for the club.

As a French citizen, Djibril choose to play for the French national football team and participated in the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.

His goal-scoring skills have made him play for major football clubs scoring numerous goals, such as Liverpool (13), Sunderland (35), Marseille (16), and Panathinaikos (47), among other clubs.

Is Djibril Cissé a muslim?

Djibril Cissé religion is a strong Christian believer who identifies with the catholic church. Despite being raised as a Muslim, Djibril Cissé converted to Roman Catholic Church during his teen years.

Djibril Cissé even went through catechism classes at 15 in one of the training centres in Nimes to solidify his faith.

The former French football star decided to concentrate on dancing, DJing, fashion and acting. Djibril has acted in several films, including Taxi 4, Danse avec les Stars in 2015 and Mask Singer in 2021. Also, he owns a clothing brand and fragrance called Mr Lenoir.

Aside from his career, Cissé married Judie Littler, and they have three children together. Unfortunately, the couple divorced, and Judie remained with the kids in England.
