Karim’s father, a businessman, is called Hafid Benzema and was born in Tigzirt, Algerian. Hafid’s father, who is Karim’s grandfather, was a man known as Da Lakehal Benzema. He hails from Tigzirt village in Ait Djellil, a town in Algeria.
Da Lakehal and his family migrated to Lyon, France, in the 1950s to settle there.

On the other hand, Karims’s mother, Wahida Djebbara, a homemaker by profession, is French by birth. Although her parents originated from Oran, a town in Algeria, she was born in Lyon and grew up there.
Karim Benzema’s move to join the French national team
Benzema started his National Team football career by playing for local club Olympique Lyonnais in France in 2005. The team won the Ligue 1 title thrice, and Karim received the Best Player of the Year award.
Before that, he used to play for the French youth team and assisted them in winning the UEFA European Under 17 Champions in 2004.
