Channel 4 football presenters, pundits, and commentators

Channel 4 football is among the licensed soccer broadcasters in the U.K. It is one of the Three Lions international match broadcasters with detailed match analysis and interviews. 

With Channel 4, English fans can follow the national team proceedings across all competitions, such as qualifiers and the Euro Championship Finals.

The channel has an impressive lineup of presenters, pundits and commentators dedicated to giving English fans all information on sports and the national side. 

Among the presenters are A-List names, including football legends such as Steven Gerrard. 

Here’s a list of all Channel 4 football presenters.

1. Dion Dublin

Dion Dublin is a Channel 4 football pundit aside from his full-time job as the club director of Cambridge United. 

The former Manchester United, Coventry City, Celtic, and Aston Villa centre forward transited into the entertainment industry after he retired from professional football.

Dion regularly featured for media houses BBC Sports Final Score, Football Focus, Match of the Day shows, and occasionally televised live FA Cup games commentary. 

The ex-Red Devils player was a commentator on England’s 2024 Euro qualifiers, where they stunned the defending champions 2-1 in Naples.

2. Graeme Le Saux

Jersey-born native Graeme Pierre Le Saux is a television pundit for English media house Channel 4 News. 

The former English international became the most expensive defender in English football in 1997 following his move from Southampton to Chelsea.

Graeme also played for club Blackburn during his playing career; he won the 1994-1995 Premier League Title with the club. After his retirement, Graeme Le Saux became a pundit for BBC on their Match of the Day 2 highlight

One of the most popular Channel 4 football presenters, Graeme, provided commentary on the England-Hungary game in the UEFA Nations League match

Graeme has also worked as a match analyst and commentator for U.S.-based NBC Sports Network, which covers the Premier League.

3. Jill Scott

Jill Scott is amongst the growing list of Channel 4 News female presenters. The former Three Lionesses legend was prolific for the national side, featuring 161 times and scoring 27 goals.

Jill also led the national team to the Women’s Euro 2022 victory against Germany shortly before she retired.

The English international was a star of the feminine game and impressed with Everton and Manchester City colours during her playing days. 

Jill was among the panel of pundits at England’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine, where she showed off her keepy-up skills on live TV, putting fellow presenter Andrey Shevchenko to shame.

  4. Steve Bower

Stephen Robert Bower is among the lead commentators of English football BBC TV’s Match of the Day

The English football commentator was among the high-profile names featured in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and provided coverage for the New Zealand historic draw against Italy.

Aside from providing coverage for Channel 4 Football, Steve also provides commentaries for TNT Sports and covers Serie A, Bundesliga, and Europa League matches. 

Although Bower did not play professional football, he extremely loved the sport. His commentary career began presenting sports bullets at Radio City in Liverpool earlier in his life. 

Bowers also has a partnership with U.S.-based franchise DAZN, where he provides commentaries each year of the UEFA Champions League final.

5. Ade Adepitan

Adedoyin Olayiwola Adepitan is a wheelchair basketball player and Channel 4 presenter. Ade Adepitan is an Englishman of Nigerian heritage who has hosted numerous BBC sports shows. 

The basketball player is a strong disability advocate and uses his position as the first physically disabled television presenter in the U.K. to champion more recognition. 

Ade’s disability is attributed to contracting Polio as an infant, which damaged his legs and riddled him to a wheelchair.

A West Ham United season ticket holder, he has attended numerous matches and appears on Channel 4 News as a pundit offering his options. 

However, Ade has participated in numerous charity events and holds an Honorary Doctorate from Loughborough University for his outstanding services and performances in disability sports.

6. Ashley Cole

Former Arsenal and Chelsea player Ashley Cole is amongst the reappearing panellist pundits of Channel 4 football.

He is regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation and is amongst the few elite players to feature for both London Rivals.

Cole was an integral member of Arsenal’s Invincibles team that lifted the Premier League Title in 2003- 2004. He also went on to lift 3 F.A. cups with the London club. 

However, Cole’s exit from the Emirates did not end in a fun fair, and he left in a protracted transfer saga to Chelsea.

Nevertheless, despite the troublesome transfer, Cole’s time at Chelsea was fruitful as he won a Champions League Title, 4 FA Cups, and 1 League Cup

He is among the pundit panellists featured in England’s qualifiers against Hungary.

7. Eni Aluko

Eni Aluko is among the few female Channel 4 football presenters. A former footballer, Aluko played for Italian club Juventus, Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic, and Chelsea in the F.A. Women’s Premier League

She also moved to Women’s Professional Soccer in the U.S. and played for several clubs, including Saint Louis Athletica, Atlanta Beat, and Sky Blue FC. Aluko featured for the Three Lions, making over 102 appearances before retirement. 

She has since become a television football commentator featuring on FIFA men’s and women’s World Cups.

8. Jordan Nobbs

Former Sunderland and Arsenal player Jordan Nobbs is also amongst the list of active professional players who have appeared on Channel 4 Football as pundits. 

The current Aston Villa player was named alongside Michael Owen as the pitch side presenter in England’s qualifier match against Germany. 

Jordan has been capped by the Three Lions and was included in the list for the Women’s World Cup in 2023, which they lost to eventual winners Spain.

9. Kelly Somers

Kelly Elizabeth Somers is a presenter-reporter and a regular football contributor across the U.K.’s media coverage. 

A well-informed presenter, Kelly, has been called on to appear on several sports shows such as BBC, TalkSport, Premier League Products and Australia’s Optus Sport.

Aside from featuring on Match of the Day, she also appeared alongside Mark on Final Score English coverage. 

She notably presented Premier League Football coverage for Amazon Prime and appeared in Channel 4’s England vs. Germany match.

During the qualifiers, Kelly conducted pre-recorded interviews with players such as Chelsea’s talisman Raheem Sterling and England’s coach Gareth Southgate. Her interview was the night’s highlight.

10. Jules Breach

Jules Breach became a regular face on Channel 4 football after a meteoric rise that saw her cement the position as a presenter. 

She has presented live television in the U.K. on B.T. Sport, CBS Sports’ UEFA Champions League coverage aside from Channel 4 Football.

A talented presenter, Jules, was also included as a guest on A Question of Sports show and presented the Premier League’s Fantasy Football Show alongside James Richardson. 

Other notable shows she has covered include The Football Ramble, Premier League Productions, English Football League, Women’s Ashes Live, and Optus Sport

Jules presented England’s game against Hungary on the pitch side and travelled alongside English legend Michael Owen for the Three Lions’ assignment against Germany.

11. Jermain Defoe

Former Tottenham forward Jermain Defoe is among the great elite of ex-footballers who appear on Channel 4 Football. 

Defoe returned to his former club at the end of his playing career and is now the Tottenham under-18 coach. The English international forward has been a pundit for Channel 4 news for a couple of years.

Aside from Tottenham, Jermain Defoe played for the London club, The Hammers and AFC Bournemouth. He was also part of Rangers, where he lifted the 2020-21 Scottish League Title. 

Defoe was amongst the most prolific goal scorers of his time, becoming only the 20th player to score a century of Premier League goals in 2011. He also holds the accolade of scoring the most goals as a substitute in the EPL.

12. Joe Cole

After retirement, former West Ham United winger Joseph John Cole is a pundit on Channel 4 News and TNT Sports. 

Joe Cole also played for clubs Liverpool and Chelsea during his playing days and won 3 Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups and a League Cup in his career. 

Aside from joining French side Lille, he also played for Aston Villa and Coventry City in his latter career and received 56 international call-ups for England. 

Most recently, Cole was featured as a presenter in the England vs. Italy Euro 2024 qualifiers.

13. Michael Owen

Former English international Michael Owen is also among the A-list football legends who are pundits of Channel 4 football and give detailed insights on matches. The former Red Devils and Liverpool legend is highly regarded as one of the most prolific strikers of his generation.

In his prime, Michael Owen led Liverpool to their maiden European treble, sweeping the UEFA Cup, F.A. Cup, and Football League Cup in 2001. 

Moreover, besides winning a Ballon d’Or award, he regularly featured for the Three Lions.

Since he retired from active professional football, Owen has become a football pundit and commentator for Channel 4 News. 

14. Steven Gerrard

Former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is amongst the A-list lineup of Channel 4 football pundits and presenters. After a brief stint with Scottish club Rangers, the Al-Ettifaq coach moved to the Saudi Pro League in 2023.

Gerrard was named alongside Joe Cole and Jill Scott for Channel 4’s coverage of England’s EURO 2024 qualifiers against Ukraine and Italy. 

Steven Gerrard is a former Liverpool captain and led the team to win 1 UEFA Champions League final, 2 FA Cups, and 3 League Cups. 

Gerrard also captained the Three Lions but never won the Premier League with Liverpool.

15. Archie Rhind-Tutt

Journalist Archie Rhind-Tutt is among the list of Channel 4 Football male presenters. 

The touchline sports presenter is renowned for providing excellent game insight, which he does whilst fielding jokes. 

Archie is based in Cologne, Germany, as a freelance reporter. He, however, has featured in numerous Bundesliga sports reports in Germany for U.S. media franchise ESPN and DFL Sports.

He also presented the Guardian’s Football Weekly podcast and BBC Radio 5Live Radio programs. 

The presenter was in attendance at the England Match against Germany in the company of Michael, Owen and Kelly Sommers.
