The 2023–2024 English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and F.A. Cup matches are all lined up to be played this season.

BBC Football has gone all out in 2023 to line up a formidable team of football experts who will provide match commentary and analysis from all angles of the beautiful game.

Here is a list of BBC football pundits that shape the game.

1. Alex Scott

Alex Scott is one of the first permanent female hosts of BBC Sports Football Focus, where she took over to replace Dan Walker after his retirement. She has enjoyed a successful media career since announcing her retirement from professional football in 2018.

Alex became the first female pundit at the 2018 FIFA World Cup for Sky Sports. Aside from presenting at BBC Sport, she has co-hosted The One Show and Sports Relief.

2. Ellen White

Ellen White is one of the top scorers of the English national Women’s team. She was integral to The Three Lionesses’ Euro 2022 Championship win.

However, after the Euro victory, Ellen retired in 2022 from professional football and went on to join BBC Sports as a commentator.

3. Emma Sanders

Emma Sanders is a BBC Sport broadcast journalist stationed in Manchester, U.K.

She has worked with multiple publications, including Yahoo! News, The Guardian, The Independent, and Bleacher Report.

Emma covers the Premier League, WSL, and European men’s football. She often reports live from the site and in publications.

4. Fara Williams

Fara Williams is a pundit on BBC Sports.

Fara’s life is quite interesting. Homeless for 6 years, she forged a football career that enabled her to catch the eye of the FA, who offered her a skills coach job.

She worked her way to make a name in football and later earned an appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).

Fara is the most-capped English women’s team player, adding to her Women’s FA Cup and FA WSL titles with Arsenal and Liverpool, respectively.

5. Jane Dougall

Jane Dougall is a sports presenter who presents the Sports show on BBC Breakfast. Before switching to BBC, Jane worked for Sky News as a presenter.

She joined the media house 1999 and has been a sports correspondent for football and cricket tournaments.

6. Gabby Logan

Gabby Logan is an Olympics corporation anchor, but she is also versatile and can present any other sport.

She featured in the Women’s Euro 2022 summer tournament, where she was the lead anchor.

7. Sue Smith

Sue Smith is among the most recognizable BBC Sports commentators for her iconic hairstyles. The former Doncaster Rovers Belles player appears on BBC Football as an analyst, offering her views and commentary skills for the channel.

She also works as an analyst-commentator for Sky Sports in the Women’s Super League games and co-presented EFL on the Quest highlight show.

8. Ashley Williams

Ashley Williams is one of the panellists who are pundits on the BBC Sports show Match of the Day.

Williams is a former footballer who played for the Wales national team, scoring 2 goals in 86 appearances. He also featured for multiple clubs, including Stoke City, Everton, and Swansea City.

9. Maz Farookhi

Maz Farookhi is a BBC World Service and 5 Live Sports reporter who also provided coverage for the Women’s 2023 World Cup coverage.

Going by her posts on X (formerly Twitter), Maz is passionate about Women’s football. She tweets or retweets a lot about the Women’s World Cup as well as other female football events.

10. Rachael Brown-Finnis

Rachael Brown-Finnis is a reappearing pundit on BBC Sports. She represented England in more than 80 international outings, impressing in the Red and white colours.

Aside from being a co-commentator on B.T. Sports, the BBC football pundit has also played for WSL teams Liverpool and Everton.

11. Reshmin Chowdhury

Reshmin Chowdhury is a British journalist who presents Premier League soccer on Discuss Sports.

She has also commented on the F.A. Cup aside from featuring on B.T. Sports coverage of the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League.

12. Robyn Cowen

Robyn Cowen is a BBC play-by-play commentator on BBC One, notably known for his Women’s UEFA Euro 2022 coverage.

 The female commentator has been nominated for the Football Supporters’ Association and the British Sports Journalism Awards.

13. Vicki Sparks

Vicki Sparks commented on BBC television for the 2022 Women’s World Cup coverage.

14. Seema Jaswal

Jaswal is among the Premier League’s lead anchors on its worldwide production and has appeared on BBC’s snooker and B.T. Sport’s Champions League Coverage.

The British TV and radio presenter also works for ITV, DAZN, BT Sport, and IMG. She has covered multiple events, including the Men’s World Cup and the Premier League.

15. Mark Chapman

Mark Chapman replaced his compatriot Gary Lineker to host Match of the Day Sunday evening highlights.

Chapman has also graced BBC with his long-term service since 2013 after replacing Colin Murray and is set to continue presenting at BBC for the 2023-24 Premier League season.

16. Alan Shearer

Alan Shearer features on Match of the Day as a pundit for BBC Football. He has been selected to host important events such as the World Cup, FA Cup, and the European Championships since 2006.

He is the English Premier League’s most prolific scorer with 3 Golden Boots and an overall 260 goals.

17. Ian Wright

Ian Wright is a former Premier League winner with Arsenal and the club’s second-highest goal scorer. He features on BBC’s Match of the Day Pundit alongside Alan Shearer.

Wright’s positivity and unmatched passion for football make him interesting to watch. Players and fans alike respect him for his heroics on the pitch, where he earned several accolades.

18. Micah Richards

Micah Richards is a Premier League and F.A. Cup winner with Manchester City and has been capped 13 times for England’s national team.

He is a pundit for media houses BBC, CBS, and Sky Sports, where he regularly appears. On CBS, he is popular for his contributions during UEFA Champions League matches alongside Kate Abdo, Jamie Carragher, and Thierry Henry.

19. Dion Dublin

Dion Dublin is a former Manchester United player who won a Premier League Title and a Golden Boot Award. After retirement, Dublin has built a successful media career with media sports house BBC TV.

Aside from notable features such as the FIFA 2022 Qatar World Cup, he appeared on BBC TV Football Focus, Final Score, and Match of the Day.

20. Danny Murphy

Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy is a regular analyst for BBC Football. Since retirement, Murphy has heavily featured on the Match of the Day program.

Danny’s career as a pundit is just as illustrious as his footballing career. He is articulate on matters football and always brings an insightful angle to commentary and match analysis.

21. Joleon Lescott

Joleon Lescott is another big name on the list of BBC football pundits and commentators.

The English defender won two Premier League Championship titles with Manchester City. Aside from his work with BBC, Joleon is the England U21 football coach.

22. Rio Ferdinand

Former Manchester United and England international defender Rio Ferdinand is a Match of the Day pundit.

He is one of the greatest defenders England has ever produced and was included in the Premier League Hall of Fame.

23. Gary Lineker

Next on our list of BBC football pundits is Gary Lineker, who has been a Match of the Day presenter since 1999, making him a mainstay at the channel.

The former Barcelona and Leicester City forward inked a deal with the British broadcasting channel to continue hosting the show until 2025.

24. Jo Currie

Jo Currie is a women’s sports reporter for BBC Football stationed in Manchester, U.K.

She is often seen pitch-side presenting at Women’s football events. Currie is an LGBTQ activist who doesn’t shy off when it comes to promoting inclusivity within the sport.

25. Kelly Somers

Somers provided coverage for the Three Lions on BBC several times, offering insights into the training base and interviewing players and managers.

She is a regular, not just on TV but also on the radio, where she contributes to various sporting events. Some of the programs she has appeared on BBC include Final Score and Match of the Day.

26. Caroline De Moraes

Caroline De Moraes is a truly versatile mainstream sports media presenter associated with Red Bull. She is a sought-after media personality and has been a commentator for BBC Football, ITV and Channel 4.

Caroline is well known for her stint at Red Bull TV, where she covered various events around the world. At BBC, she hosts all types of sporting events, including training sessions.

27. Garth Crooks

Garth Crooks is a BBC football pundit who presents the show Team of the Week on the sports channel.

Garth, who played for Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, appeared on several programmes for BBC, including Match of the Day. He also appeared on Final Score as a football pundit.

28. Jermaine Jenas

Jermaine Jenas is a regular BBC pundit who has won the League Cup with Tottenham and has been capped 21 times by England.

Now a renowned pundit, Jenas started off with freelance punditry in 2014-15 after he was released by QPR. He has worked for ITV Sport, BT Sport, and Channel 4, among others.

29. Glenn Murray

Glenn Murray is a former Brighton & Hove Albion striker who boasts the highest number of goals ever scored in a Championship season.

After retirement from football, Murray went on to work for BBC Football as a pundit.

30. Martin Keown

Besides playing for the football club Arsenal, Martin Keown is a Euro Championship winner with England, where he made over 400 appearances and won 10 major honours.

Since he retired from active football, Keown has been a part-time coach and one of the pundits for Sports channel BBC Football and B.T. Sport.

31. Chris Sutton

Chris Sutton is a former Norwich and Blackburn Rovers striker. Chris won the 1995 Premier League title with Blackburn and went to work with BBC Football in his retirement.

He co-commentates on BBC Radio Live aside from occasionally working with TNT Sports.

32. Jermaine Beckford

Jermaine Beckford, a former striker for Leicester City, is among the football pundits working for BBC Football.

The former footballer, who is of Jamaican and Grenadian descent, has also featured on a couple of shows for other TV channels.

BBC Football has an impressive line-up of pundits and commentators that is set to keep entertaining its fans across the U.K.

These presenters will cover the Premier League, F.A. Cup, and match analysis for different games and TV shows.
